    Pre-conference Institute
    Developing Literacy in Spanish

While there are many similarities between developing literacy in Spanish and in English, there are also some key differences. This pre-conference institute focuses on the differences in the structures of Spanish and English and how these differences impact literacy instruction. The TEKS that are impacted by these differences are addressed. There is a focus on classroom implications. The goal is for bilingual teachers to understand the structure of Spanish and how it impacts literacy instruction as well as to develop a repertoire of teaching strategies.
